The Professional Wrestling Historical Society was founded in June 2013 with the purpose of preserving history. Specifically the history not commonly recorded or spoken about. It is our firm belief that every wrestler and every match is important to history of professional wrestling, not just the ones that are associated with WWE, WCW and etc.
Most importantly, the idea was always to present the history as it happened. We have regular article writers who share their experiences and opinions, but the results, title histories and so on are all typed up as per the contemporary sources for them.
On July 1, 2014 the P.W.H.S. website was launched to make the archiving of information easier and more organized for people to view.
Julie Hankinson had been running her own website, the "Comprehensive History of Wrestling" which on March 12, 2015 closed down and saw it's information become a part of the P.W.H.S. pages.
From day one the website has been free to view and there are no plans to ever change that. All costs of researching, running the website and etc. are covered by P.W.H.S. As of April 24, 2016 we have been fortunate enough to receive donations towards the costs which are greatly appreciated and help us to expand on what we can share with you all.
Finally we have to say "Thank You" to all of you too. As cliché as it may very well be, it's true. Because without every single member from the Facebook group and everyone who visits the website offering their continued support who knows if PWHS would ever have gotten this far. Your contributions whether it by posting, commenting, spreading the word of the society, or donating. We would love to list all of you here, but truthfully there are so many of you now that make the PWHS group a better place to be, we would likely miss somebody by accident and we don't want to do that. I'm sure those of you who this is referring to will know who you are. Thank you.
Supporting the Professional Wrestling Historical Society
The first time we received a donation we were blown away with both appreciation and surprise. Truthfully we all love researching wrestling history and the reason the entire website is free to access is because we believe the history of professional wrestling should be known and should be accessible. And whether we received donations or not we'd still be researching wrestling and running this website for as long as possible. What donations do allow us to do though is put money towards running this website and if we can cover the costs of that, extra money will be able to be spent on expanding how and what we can use to research plus generally expanding the society. If for whatever reason you can not donate or simply just don't want to, then please support PWHS by joining the Facebook group, liking and sharing posts, commenting, making posts, sharing the website or anything of that nature. Not are would you be helping spread the word about us, but it helps spread the history of professional wrestling. Once again, thank you to anyone who contributes in any way.
